Air Tightness

BRE research has shown that 30 % plus of all energy loss is through air leakage, typically at penetrations and junctions. It is vital that avoid leakage at these points as recognised in the Building Regulations Approved Document 1, and Scottish Building Standards Agency (SBSA) Technical Documents Section 6.

By designing and installing roofing systems and interface details that minimise air leakage from buildings, climate change gas emissions can be reduced along with energy costs.

RoofKrete/Krete products are unique in that they are permanently air-tight, and because of the plastering technique every corner and joint can be made airtight. All other roofing membranes rely on tapes to make the system airtight, and tapes will only last on average 10 years — before leakage results.
