New Build

new buildIn New Build, buildings can be designed to complement the environment, and we can design in thermal efficiency and utilise green roofs, with real green membranes to work with nature, creating habitat and amenity, whilst managing rainfall for the benefit of the community. RoofKrete and Krete products are excellent for water run-off, as they do not contain any pvc or plasticiser or degradable tpo plastic chemicals.

These factors will not only reduce our impact on the environment, they can reduce operational costs.

RoofKrete/Krete can be used in conjunction with all thermal insulation materials of all thicknesses and we recommend the use of vapour control layers to control air leakage/the control of air leakage, reduction of thermal bridging and specific thermal performance are all measures aimed at reducing carbon emissions regulated within the Building Regulations Approved Documents and Scottish Building Standards Agency (SBSA) Technical Documents Section 6.

Whether it be new construction or refurbishment the same factors need to be considered when evaluating the environmental performance of roofing membranes, including —

  • LONGEVITY - a key function is Durability
  • RELIABILITY IN USE - the quality of trained contractors for installation is vital
  • MAINTENANCE - a potentially ongoing impact - Roofkrete / Krete is however "Fit and Forget" - with virtually no maintenance.
  • LOCAL PRODUCTION - if you specify say a product made in Switzerland (e.g. PVC or TPO) the embodied energy of 800 km of transport/ diesel is enormous
  • EMBODIED ENERGY - it is essential to specify a low embodied energy product
  • NO FOSSIL FUELS - if petrochemical products will run out in less than 40 years, it is obvious that if non-oil based products are available and affordable, then replace
  • WASTE DISPOSAL - try to find a replacement product that can be laid on top of the old existing roof, avoiding Land Fill.
