Whole Life Costs

Whole life costing is defined as “the sytematic consideration of all relevant costs and revenues associated with the acquisition and ownership of an "asset", with all relevant costs covering all quantifiable costs directly attributed to the acquisition and use of the asset under review during its life.

It is a systematic approach of balancing capital costs with revenue costs to achieve an optimum solution over a buildings whole life.

If an architect wanted to compare the whole life cost of roofkrete versus that of a single ply membrane he is always re-assured that the fundamentals are so simple

Durability of RoofKrete/Krete = 75-100 years

Durability of Single Ply = 15-20 years

Maintenance of RoofKrete/Krete - "fit and forget" - almost zero mainentance

Maintenance of Single Ply - "a big problem anytime" follow on "trades walk on roof and even sea-gulls can destroy the membrane".
